The key function of a quantity surveyor is to estimate and manage costs relating to building projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Quantity surveyors seek to minimise the costs of a construction project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards specified by statutory building regulations of which the surveyor must have an expert knowlege. Quantity surveyors will also be responsible for quality control, ensuring the construction project meets the quality levels required by the architect and/or end client.
